About the Errol Barrow Memorial Trust of Canada
Established in Ottawa in January 1989 by the late Peter Morgan, then High Commissioner for Barbados in Canada, the Trust is intended to honour the memory and distinguished public service of the Right Excellent Errol Walton Barrow who as Premier and later Prime Minister of Barbados, identified education as one of the assets on which a modern Barbados could be built.
One of the aims of the Trust is to advance the education of persons who reside in, or are citizens of West Indian countries who have been or may become at some future time members of the Caribbean Commonwealth. We aim to achieve this goal by providing funding for fellowships, research posts, bursaries or facilities for such persons to pursue educational studies in Canada or in the Commonwealth Caribbean.
Over the years the years the Trust, through grants has assisted six students in pursuing studies in Canada in Accounting, Science, Early Childhood Education, Film, Medicine and Professional Cooking.
The Trust is a registered charity under the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA). Donations of $20 and over will receive a receipt to be used as a deduction on income tax returns.
The Trust complies with the Ontario Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
